The Run-Around: Academic Job Postings in the GTA area

If you’re recent graduate student who doesn’t plan to continue on in an academic career, working for a college or university setting in a non-academic capacity is like returning to the breast that fed you. Already familiar with academic regulations and with strong writing skills, positions in strategic communications or administration, or even as course instructors, can be tolerable fit. But without a centralized database for these types of positions, or set deadlines, applying for these positions means sifting through tabs on individualized college websites, or getting the run-around from union to union, or compiling a dizzying number of bookmarks. Finding the job posting in the first place is almost as sticky as finding a job in this economy. Below is a list of as many Toronto-area college & university job posting sites as I could rustle up. Also keep in mind that many of these sites have temporary positions that are on-call and excellent for transitioning into a full-time position. Please also email me or post additional links in the comments if there are sites missing. **Updated November 19, 2012: I’ve come across a few additional job boards, include the U of T Writing Centre, Canada Arts Connect, TAPA blog, and others. They’ve been added below.**

Good luck everyone, and don’t forget not to rely only on job sites for your hunt. Use other methods as well (i.e. temp agencies, networking, newspapers, volunteering, freelancing/consulting) Again, I know I must be missing links so please do send them to me if you want to share! And if you don’t want to share, you should be ready to handle the poor karma.
